Live im Park: The Stereo Lines Bring the Heat to Fellbach

By News Desk · RNO Travel · Fellbach, Germany

Fellbach does not announce itself the way Stuttgart does. There is no skyline, no crush of trams. It is a wine town first — vineyards climbing the slopes of the Rems Valley just northeast of the Stuttgart Region — and it was in that quieter register that “Live im Park” unfolded this week, an open-air concert evening presented by SWF Stadtwerke Fellbach, drawing a crowd that filled the plaza long before the first chord.

The headline act was The Stereo Lines, and they earned every inch of the stage. The band’s frontman worked the crowd with a red guitar slung low and a voice that cut clean through the open air, backed by a rig of trussed lighting that turned the plain municipal backdrop into something closer to a proper festival stage. It was loud, it was warm, and by the second song the crowd at the barrier — caps on, phones half-raised, half-forgotten — had stopped filming and started singing.

“We came for an evening out with friends. We left having found one of the best bands we’ve heard live in years.”

This correspondent was there on the invitation of a friend, Kati, who has a gift for finding exactly this kind of evening — unpretentious, well-run, and full of good company. Between sets there was Fellbacher wine, poured generously and drunk out of the town’s own branded glasses, chased with sparkling water in the Swabian way, and a sausage of the hearty East German style that tasted exactly as good as it should after a long, warm evening on your feet.

What struck this correspondent most was not the production — modest, but well handled — but the town itself. Fellbach trades on wine rather than spectacle, and it shows in the crowd: multi-generational, unhurried, dressed for an evening among neighbors rather than a night out in the city. The Remstal’s vineyard hills ring the plaza on every side, and as the light dropped the whole scene took on the kind of gold-hour glow that no lighting rig could fake.

The show was billed to run from 6:30 to 9:30, but rain and lightning moved in and brought things to an early close. The Stereo Lines had already delivered enough by then to send the crowd off to a genuine roar, not the polite applause of a municipal event but the kind reserved for a band the crowd didn’t expect to be this good. If they come back to the Stuttgart region, RNO Travel’s advice is simple: go, and bring an empty stomach and a taste for Fellbacher wine.
