From Isle of Man to the Caribbean: Lukas Nakos charts a path of faith, enterprise and development

An elder and seasoned entrepreneur, Nakos has leveraged decades of international business experience into church leadership and a high-profile economic development project in Antigua and Barbuda.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — April 18, 2026

Lukas Nakos spent 16 years building businesses on the Isle of Man. Then he walked away from all of it.

The entrepreneur, who studied at the University of Cape Town before establishing himself in the British Isles, made the decision around 2018 to relocate his family to South Africa — not for a new commercial venture, but to deepen his commitment to Joshua Generation Church, the Cape Town-based congregation where he now serves as an elder.

“His greatest passion is to serve the Lord and His bride,” according to a profile published by Four12 Global, a church network with which Joshua Generation is affiliated. That description, offered by those close to him, appears to capture something essential about a man who has made a habit of putting conviction ahead of comfort.

Nakos is married to Annie, and sources close to him describe a family life that has followed him through every relocation and reinvention — a constant thread running through an otherwise peripatetic career.

Beyond his religious work, Nakos has in recent years turned his attention to the Caribbean. According to a source with direct knowledge of his activities, Nakos has been involved in an economic zone project in Antigua and Barbuda — the twin-island nation that has in the past decade become an increasingly active destination for special economic zone development.

Antigua and Barbuda established its Special Economic Zone framework in 2015, and has since attracted significant international investment interest in designated development areas spanning hundreds of acres across the island. The involvement of outside entrepreneurs and advisers in such projects has become a key feature of the country’s push to diversify its economy beyond tourism, which accounts for the majority of its gross domestic product.

The nature of Nakos’s role in the project reflects a broader pattern — a businessman whose commercial instincts have taken him across multiple continents and who appears willing to engage in high-stakes development work far from his base of operations.

In his church role, Nakos has become a prominent preacher within Joshua Generation Church’s U.S. congregations, delivering sermons at locations in Newport Beach and San Clemente, California, on subjects ranging from faith and generosity to authority and the nature of the Kingdom of God.

His sermons have been described by those who have attended as both sobering and encouraging — a combination that, according to colleagues, mirrors the man himself.

Whether in a boardroom, a church hall, or the corridors of a Caribbean development project, Lukas Nakos operates by a consistent set of principles — and shows little sign of slowing down.
