Zelenskyy Blames Russian Drones for Sinking of Grain Ship in Romanian Waters

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian drones struck and sank a Turkish-owned grain ship in Romania’s section of the Black Sea on Monday, Al Jazeera reports. Romanian authorities said two people were killed and 11 were rescued.
Romania’s interior ministry said the coastguard was alerted to a fire aboard the vessel late Monday morning and that the ship was inside the country’s exclusive economic zone. Zelenskyy said the vessel had been carrying corn.
The sinking adds to a string of suspected drone incursions along NATO’s eastern flank this year, several of them in Romania, and is likely to deepen concern in Europe that the war in Ukraine could spill across its borders.
